Drove from SLC to Moab, Arches National Park, Canyonlands National Park
So lucky to have such a special friend come through SLC on her way back to Colorado from Portland. We had a destination in mind that was disrupted by US Air Force bombing areas and a stopped train. Ah but of course it’s about the journey and not the destination.
I mostly piggy-backed on a climbing trip with Shelby, Leah, and Nicole. I spent most of the day stepping over boulders and dodging spiders, but I did unexpectedly have my first ever outdoor climb. It was scary/fun/thrilling. Thank you to my friends for your support and warmth.
Salt Lake City is colors and textures. Yellow Yarrow Red Rose. Yellow Yarrow Red Rose. Yellow Yarrow Red Rose.
We were upgraded to a room on the 10th floor with a king sized bed and a jacuzzi. It was delightful.

Am I the last to know? The first to inspire? I’m a good friend, I’m a good keeper, good at smiling, bad at sleeping. There is a world out there where Germany sleeps in a cushy pillow of mountains and dreams. I sleep in Germany where I am alone. No friends to make, no smiles to be read, many woodpeckers to echo in the forest of my mind, anti-aging potions of baths and beets and beer and green and green. I ramble up some words to return back to here. Back to rosy cheeks and pain behind my eyes. Physical symptoms of the time I live in. Symptoms of stagnation and fear and hives that itch and itch and itch and I scratch and bleed and hope they go away. Do you know what I don’t? Do they know what I don’t know? Who knows if I don’t?
Horror is a pervasive theme in my art, my dreams, my inspiration. We all have dark thoughts and fantasies that might only come out before we open our eyes. I acknowledge my fantasy as moving and emphatic. Horror allows us to feel something that we never expect or anticipate to confront in our lifetimes. It is slightly surreal yet motivates deep and visceral tones in our minds. Suspiria (2018) is one of the most inspiring horror films I have seen since Hereditary. Flooded with mystery, lacking explanation, and evoking those feelings that we wish to suppress. When I went on this photoshoot with Nathan, Kate, Maisie, and Kyle, Suspiria was on the forefront of my mind.
Thank you to Brett and Harlow for inviting me to take promotional photos for their new hair studio! Also thank you to the models: Angela, Ashley, Maria, Andrew, Kali, and Jen <3 Aaaand thank you to Nathan for helping me with the studio set up.
Haley threw a surprise party for Kahlil and asked me to set up a little photobooth. Candid party pics has always been one of my favorite styles of photography.
I filled in for Nathan this year at the Winter Flea. It was a challenge that I have yet to (and may never) master, but I had fun nonetheless. More info about the Flea can be found here.
